Situation & Location The field can be accessed off Mid Gate Road or Forty Foot Lane. It is located 2.4 miles Northwest of the village of Old Leake, 8 miles Northeast the centre of the market town of Boston and 36 miles Southeast of the City of Lincoln.
Soil Type The land is classified by the Former MAFF Land Classification Maps of England being Grade 2 agricultural land. The actual soil type is described by the Soil Survey of England and Wales, as being part of the Wallasea 2 Association of Soils, which is characterised as consisting of deep stoneless clayey soils, with some deep calcareous silty soils in places. These soils are capable of growing winter cereals, some sugar beet, potatoes and field vegetables.
Land Drainage The field has the benefit of a land drainage scheme and the concrete head walls to the land drains are visible in the roadside drain.
