Translated as Glory Valley Wood, Coed Cwm Gloywfa is a potentially productive plantation situated within its own hidden fold in the hills above the well-known Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall. This is one of the largest waterfalls in Wales and visitors to this attraction will never leave unimpressed. The stream that leaves the northern corner of the property flows over the waterfall after joining with another similar watercourse within 1 mile of the landmark. xx Visitors to the site will be humbled by the woodland’s situation, seemingly almost on the roof of Wales as you rise up towards the summit where the drivable track enters the wood’s productive area. During our visit we were able to see all of the mountains in North Wales as we turned and looked towards the heart of Snowdonia only 26 miles away. xx The productive area of the wood has been ground prepped and replanted mainly with improved Sitka spruce trees. These are expected to out-perform the original crop, some of which have been retained as a windbreak on the southern edge of the planted area. The felling licence (FLA050/348/16-17) allowed for the felling and replanting of 19.92 ha of land with conifers. This work was carried out in 2022 and maintenance has been on-going since. xx Included within the sale is an open section of moorland that we understand could be planted with native broadleaves. The whole property is situated within the Berwyn Mountains Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
